Black – A black is generally pictures as a “coal black” color.A solid black is completely devoid of any white, red or brown hairs. The undercoat may be lighter in color particulary prior to shedding. The points (eye rims, nose, lips and pads) are black.
Blue – Blue is a solid color which is actually light to dark gray and often has a bluish coat. The undercoat is also gray.Blue puppies are born the color silver or appear black before developing a silvery-gray undercoat with a dark slate blue top coat. The points (eye rims, nose, lips, and pads) are blue.If the coat contains any other colors, the dog is more properly referred to as a parti-color, or bi-color.
Blue Merle – This is the classic black and gray pattern. The blue merle is a black or black and tan dog with the dilution gene acting upon the black areas of the coat. The points can me mottled (pink and black) or black. One or both eyes genetically may be blue, have blue flecks or be brown.
Black and Tan – These are mostly black with tan or rust coloring on them.In black and tan poms, the darker rust or tan markings are preferred over lighter tan markings.
Cream – Cream is a very pale orange or yellow color.A cream is an even self color throughout with no white bleaching.Due to the harsher texture of guard hairs, the top coat may appear slightly deeper in color than the undercoat.Creams must have black points.
White – White is a solid color which you could compare to white snow. The undercoat will be white and the points are black.Almost all white poms are born with snow white hair and pink points. As the puppy ages, the points will darken but the coat will remain white.
Sable – This could mean Cream Sable, Red Sable and Orange Sable.Shaded sable coats that are shaded throughout with three or more colors. This shading must be as uniform as possible with no patches of self color. The base coat is the main color (Cream, Red and Orange) with black tips.
& Tan Pattern – The pattern is shaprly defined with Tan points above each eye, on both sides of the muzzle, cheeks, inside of ears, throat; fore chest with has either one very large tan spot or two tan spots called “rosettes” on each side of the chest above the front legs and on all legs and feet.Dogs with any white, other than age graying on the muzzle, with tan markings in areas other than those described here, or without tan markings in the required areas are more correctly referred to as black, brown, blue with tan marking or as tri-colored.
Red Merle – This is a red colored dog with merle markings. The red color is merled with black patches on his/her body.It usually shows little visual effect later in life. The best way to tell is at birth when the colors are dominant on the puppy.
Red – A red is not a dark orange, but a deep rusty red color.Red poms must have black points (red rims, nose lips and pads).
Chocolate – The chocolate is a rich dark candy color that is self-colored throughout.Brown is more milk chocolate, occasionally appearing with lighter shades. The points are brown.
Parti – A parti-colored Pomeranian is one with more than one coat color.Ideally, the parti is a white dog with colors that are distributed in patches on the body, with a white blaze on the head. The patches may be in any solid color, and they must be the same color. The points on parti-colored dogs should be in keeping with the points required for the color of the coat patches (i.e. red, black, cream, sable, and merle).Symmetry of facial markings is desirable. A parti-factored dog has only one parent carrying the parti gene.A true parti Pomeranian has two parti parents.
Tri-Color - A tri-colored Pomeranian is a pomeranian bearing three different colors. They can be in any pattern. Usually a black, white and tan or a blue, white and tan.
